Meet Kynan Pell our new Goulburn Valley Water Champion

Meet Kynan Pell, a digital support whiz, hailing from Shepparton and stationed at Goulburn Valley Water. When not fixing tech puzzles, he’s mastering Magic the Gathering and exploring the world, fuelled by a passion for golf and gourmet delights. With a knack for IT wizardry and a recent leap into the Champions Program, Kynan is geared up to connect, innovate, and grow within the water industry while chasing personal growth, one day at a time.

LET’S START WITH THE PERSONAL - TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOURSELF

I grew up in Shepparton, moved down to Melbourne for study and have since come back for work.

Outside of work I really enjoy playing golf, spending time travelling (love going overseas) and enjoying good food and beverages.

My biggest achievement was making the Professional Tour for a competitive card game called Magic the Gathering. I won a trip to Hawaii to compete with the best players in the world!

WHAT’S YOUR CURRENT WATER CORPORATION ROLE?

I currently work at Goulburn Valley Water as the Senior Digital Support Officer and I have been in the role for nearly 2 years.

WHAT’S YOUR PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND?

A decent amount of experience in the IT space – 7 years working and another 3 studying. I previously worked at an accounting firm as an IT administrator. Up until 3 years ago I had not realised my ambition in life so you might call me a ‘late bloomer’.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE WHAT YOU DO EACH DAY (BUT TO YOUR GRANDMA)?

I fix computer issues from customers all over the organisation so they can continue to do their job. It’s varied and often takes a broad range of skills to work with people and lean on technical skills to get the job done successfully.

WHY DID YOU JOIN IWN?

I am excited to join IWN’s Champion group for the chance to expand my networks, grow my leadership skills and work with innovative technology.

I have officially started as the IWN / Goulburn Valley Water Champion this year!

WHAT DO YOU WANT TO ACHIEVE WITH IWN?

For the industry?

Contributing to sharing knowledge between GV Water and others in the water industry to solve problems that we all experience.

For yourself?

To feel like I have grown as a leader and as a person which could possibly lead to new opportunities.

WHAT GETS YOU OUT OF BED IN THE MORNING?

Improving by 1% each day and knowing that through consistent effort, I will get me where I want to be in life. I also love when I find I have spare time throughout the day because I got up earlier than usual and accomplished what I wanted.

Kynan on a world trip adventure..
