Meet our new Executive Group Chair, Jen Rebeiro

As the Chief Transformation Officer at Greater Western Water, Jen loves ‘doing things’, catching up with friends for a meal, going to the theatre, trying a new activity; just like joining the IWN Executive group in 2019, and taking on the role of Chair in July this year.

LET’S START WITH THE PERSONAL - TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOURSELF

I am a true Melbournian. Born and raised in Essendon. I moved to Ascot Vale after I got married (over 25 years ago).  I’m of Anglo-Indian heritage, my husband is of German decent which brings a rich cultural melting pot to my family and my life.  I love ‘doing things’; catching up with friends for a meal, going to the theatre, and trying a new activity.

My biggest personal achievement, raising two reasonably adjusted teenagers and being happily married for 25+ years.

WHAT’S YOUR CURRENT WATER CORPORATION ROLE?

My current role is Chief Transformation Officer at Greater Western Water, prior to that I was GM Finance and Corporate Services and CIO. I’ve been at GWW for 5 years.

WHAT’S YOUR PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND?

I have a business degree, specialising in Human Resources. I also have a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Information Technology Management. I’ve been at GWW for 5 years and have over 20 years across diverse industries focusing on, leadership, transformation, project management and change management.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE WHAT YOU DO EACH DAY (BUT TO YOUR GRANDMA)?

I look for ways to improve the way we (my whole family) run the household.  For example; Can we use the dryer instead of hanging on the line to get a softer and faster result? I bring this improvement thinking to my roles at GWW and IWN – how can we run things to improve outcomes for our people, our customers, our community and our partners?

WHY DID YOU JOIN IWN?

I joined IWN in 2019 because it was an opportunity to explore the water sector from a Smart Tech perspective and understand the great work that gets done. I joined initially as part of the IWN Executive Group, becoming the Deputy Chair in 2022 and the Chair this year.

WHAT DO YOU WANT TO ACHIEVE WITH IWN?

For the industry?

The ability to create shared value across the sector. Undertaking trials where the lessons can be shared and decisions can be made based on evidence and experience.

Building great leaders through a collaborative approach of sector based working and watching individuals on the champion program thrive.

For me personally, I’d like the opportunity to foster great collaboration across the sector, to learn from my colleagues and encourage positive change and value.

WHAT GETS YOU OUT OF BED IN THE MORNING?

The alarm 😊, I am not a morning person.  Seriously, I love what I do, I love working with my colleagues to ensure Greater Western Water, our people, our customers, our community and our partners are engaged and that GWW fulfils it’s purpose to provide trusted water services for our communities and future generations’. I love think about different ways we can do things and get really excited when we start and finish a project!

The other thing that gives my joy in life is my (son’s) dog!!
