EASTERN REGION WORKING GROUP
The Eastern Region Working Group is made up of IWN Champions from:
East Gippsland Water
South Gippsland Water
The group’s leader is Andrew Harrison from East Gippsland Water.
The Eastern Region Working Group aims to consolidate their past experiences with IWN projects and identify further opportunities for current projects, as well as nominate innovations for future trials.
The group has been involved in a number of recent trials including:
· Sonic method of water pipe leak detection (South Gippsland Water)
· Using a drone with infrared camera to detect leaks in water pipes in inaccessible areas (Gippsland Water)
· Remote operating vehicle to clean open storages (East Gippsland Water)
In addition, East Gippsland Water continues to advance the trial of the Pi software as part of the IWN Flagship program, which is designed to organise and analyse disparate data sources into user friendly dashboards. Lower Murray Water is also taking part in this trial, and the project is currently in the evaluation phase to determine the business case for on-going up-take.
Of particular interest to the group is any information others may have on processes used for addressing backflow issues (Westernport Water) and laser scanning of sewer wet wells to determine volume-height relationships (East Gippsland Water). In addition, our group has some interesting lessons learnt on AC pipe replacement (Westernport Water) and using drones for water sampling (South Gippsland Water).
